Framing
Leadership and Commitment in general means that top management must be accountable for the effectiveness of the system (cannot delegate) and must ensure that policies and objectives are established and compatible with the context and strategic direction (can delegate) and that all leaders (at different levels within Galp) must lead by assuming their responsibilities and through examples, attitudes and behaviour.
The visible commitment of each and every one of the Organisation's members, starting at the highest level and passing through all the rest, to the lowest level of the hierarchy, is an indispensable condition for the management system’s success, that is to say, the successive hierarchies of the company are responsible for the implementation, maintenance and for the performance of the management system, as well as those that report to them.
Management policies are a set of principles formulated as Galp's intentions, commitments and guidelines to support and improve the performance of a particular subject matter and which are endorsed by top management.
For the purposes of implementing the RSIG, top management is considered to be the people who direct and control the Organisation at the highest level having the power to delegate authority and provide resources.
When considering Galp as a whole, the top management refers to the Executive Committee; when it is considered part of the Organisation, it refers to the 1st Line managers in the case of OUs and to the boards of directors, management or chief executive officer in the case of participated companies.
